1/7/2013: Junkin can make strange bedfellows!    Thursday, February 7, 2013

Well, it was a very busy day after all. I hit a few junk shops but unfortunately, we live in a touristy area of Colorado so nothing much is cheap. Also, some of the major hotels in Aspen are doing complete remodels and the junk/resale/Habitat for Humanity stores are chock full of very pricy things. One in particular caught my eye. My hubby (aka Mr. Virgo) used to work for the oldest hotel in Aspen and they are one of the big players doing a major remodel. When he worked there, he used to take a shift once or twice per month as Manager on Duty.

2/4/2013: Fun with Mr. Virgo!    Monday, February 4, 2013

I had a great visit in Denver with my daughter. We hit a couple of ARC Thrift Stores and picked up a few things. My biggest find was a 1936 book on opera with some really great, dramatic pictures that I can use in my jewelry. I also bought some really cool old dishes to make some bird feeders. I also found an old aluminum cake cover. I always have to use plastic wrap when I make Mr. Virgo a cake and this is funky enough to fit in with my semi-retro kitchen. I say semi-retro because my decorations and accessories are all the large fruit print of the '40's.

1/28/2013: Snow Day!    Monday, January 28, 2013

I love snow days! They are made even better when I don't have to go out in it. One of the pleasures of working from home is having two days off with Mr. Virgo. What a great guy! For those of you who don't know, I met him on match.com. I had been single for several years and was finally ready to put myself back out there. But I had been married for 20 years when my ex and I split up so I had no idea how to be in a relationship again. It was intimidating to think of having to go through the whole "get to know you" process all over again.

1/6/2013: Senioritis    Saturday, January 26, 2013

Mr. Virgo and I have "senioritis". We're in between the work-a-day world of earning and the retirement years of enjoying the fruits of our labor. It's worse than high school! At this age, you want to just go outside and play. You want to have milk and cookies and a nice nap. Mr. Virgo has a coupled of years on me and he works long, stressful hours so he is more than ready for the change. that is one of the reasons I've changed my course. I'd like tot pave the way and create something we can do together that would be lucrative.

1/4/2013: A Day with Mr. Virgo    Saturday, January 26, 2013

There are days when you just have to chill and watch a great movie. Our choice today is Star Wars. I believe I had only seen the original so it's fun to watch the prequels and see what led up to that amazing film that changed forever the genre of sci-fi. I remember the first time I saw the original Star Wars movie. It had just opened at a new theater on Colorado Boulevard in Denver. I had never seen such a big screen? I was absolutely mesmerized. I was in my early 20's, a young single mom, out for a fun evening with my roommate.
